Celebrating World Book Day

"Reading should not be presented to children as a chore, a duty. It should be offered as a gift." – Kate DiCamillo

Well done to all the children who made such an amazing effort to dress up as their favourite book characters for World Book Day 2024.

Winners from each class were presented with vouchers for Charlie Byrne’s Bookshop, and many of the children had the opportunity to visit the bookshop this week, to experience the magic of storytelling, imagination and the world of books.

Another tune in the store: The mighty Claddagh kids play O'Connor's Polka

Did you know that the Claddagh School band has been going strong for over 50 years now? A huge part of the heritage not only of the school but Galway City too, the band is an ongoing source of great pride and enjoyment for all of us in the Claddagh School community.

Here’s O’Connor’s Polka, a new tune for our mini-maestros, presented with a beautiful video featuring the fantastic sights of our locality. Well done to the kids and their teachers, and special thanks to the endlessly-talented Ms. Fahy for putting this latest amazing creation together.

Claddagh N.S. Awarded Digital Arts Flag

After much work and lots of interesting creative endeavour, we are delighted to have been awarded the Branar Digital Arts flag in Claddagh School. This is a whole school initiative to promote and reward arts engagement in schools. Schools are chosen each year to engage in the initiative through a series of workshops presented online.

The Digital Arts Flag is intended to be a statement of achievement and intent with regard to the prominence and status of the arts in the school. It will be a visible beacon that indicates a commitment to the importance of participation in the arts for the students of the school, both within and outside their classrooms.
